HALTING the world’s rocketing population growth is the key to solving global warming — a solution that has been ignored or overlooked by leading climate change advocates.
That was the warning from an Australian health expert, who said UN forecasts of a global population of more than 9 billion people by 2050 spelt disaster for the world’s ecology.
Roger Short, honorary professor at the University of Melbourne’s faculty of medicine, nursing and health sciences, told a conference in Sydney yesterday that government-commissioned reviews — such as the Stern report in Britain and Australia’s Garnaut report — had not even mentioned the word “population”. Even the film by former US vice-president Al Gore, An Inconvenient Truth, had failed to focus on the dangers posed by unsustainable population growth.
“Global warming is a direct result of human activity,” Professor Short told The Weekend Australian.
“The more people there are, the worse the global warming threat gets.
“So we have got to do everything we can to control human population growth.
“We haven’t given the women of the world freedom from the tyranny — and I do mean tyranny — of unwanted fertility.
“If we could restore that freedom to women, the world could breathe a lot easier and we could look forward to the future because women would sort out the future for us.”

Totally agree. The more people the more resource, energy, space, heat is given out, and the more co2 is produced!! The number 1 greenhouse gas!! The more trees and natural growth is cleared for housing and therefore oxygen supplies are depleted. The list goes on. Also the more conflicts are had in general population and therefore bad feelings and wars are fought for increased demand for territory. Its undoubtedly the no1 problem for our planet and the survival of the human race.
Imagine: Each person equals one automobile, tons of paperwork (even if its a vaccination shot it normally requires 10 papers), oxygen depletion, House (which begins the story of deforastation to create the house). If people wanna be “green” (that term shouldnt be held so loosely either) people need to at least minimize the amount of kids they have. Adopt for god’s sake! There are so many children already up for adoption. 1-2 birth children is enough!! Not fuckin 20
Ok, say you’re right, and we have a civilization over-populated. What do you intend to do to “fix” this? Tell people to stop having sex? Order women to abort their babies? Drop an atom bomb? Besides, who wants to adopt when they want one of their own?
