Trusting In Protective Modern Sea Walls

modern Japan trusting in God science
trusting in protective modern sea walls
but modern sea walls too low are built
built to height of smaller 1960 tsunami

walls failed to protect new coastal towns
in Japan’s destructive recent huge tsunami
sweeping way communities once built right
to sea water’s edge trusting in sea walls built

designed built after deadly small 1960 tsunami
ignoring hundreds of ancient tsunami markers
stone tsunami warnings hundreds dot coastline
“If an earthquake comes, beware of tsunamis”

modern Japan this time heed ancient wisdom
ancestors in earlier generations left warnings
“Octopus Grounds” are places sea life washed
up by tsunami gives warnings naming temples

after powerful tsunami waves gives warnings
stone markers warned of danger to coastal lives
“Always be prepared for unexpected tsunamis.
Choose life over your possessions and valuables.”

people trusting in protective modern sea walls
did not listen after earthquake people went back
to their homes to collect valuables all got caught
in choosing possessions riches lives were lost

  9. Terence George Craddock says:

The suddenness of the tsunami reaped our lives, stole solid foundations of happiness generations planted, it was a time of unbelievable horrific devastation, great sorrow suffering laid coastal land waste; our tears were rubble, ghosts of strangers lost haunted our common humanity, in time we were proud of a noble Japanese spirit, which bonded in community serving; honouring the dead, lives lost, families loved ones stripped from us, by rebuilding with strength beauty art; replacing moments of tragedy by honouring lives lost, with the beauty of years of special fond favoured memories, where family friends neighbours live on in beautified memories.
Godspeed blessings upon your futures growing, may glorious cherry blossoms, season your lives with visions of beauty healing, in the perfume of fragrant love blooming.

  10. Terence George Craddock says:

    Tsunami Echoes Horrific Tragedy Blossoms

    The suddenness
    of tsunami Japanese
    reaped raped our lives,

    stole solid foundations
    of Japanese happiness
    generations planted,

    it was a wave time
    of nightmare unbelievable
    horrific devastation,

    great sorrow
    suffering laid coastal
    land waste;

    our splintered tears
    were waste rubble,

    ghosts of strangers
    lost mindless haunted
    our common humanity,

    in rebuild time
    we were proud
    of a resilient noble
    Japanese spirit,

    which bonded
    in community
    giving serving;

    honouring
    deleted dead,

    lives lost,

    families
    loved ones
    stripped from us,

    by rebuilding
    with purity strength
    beauty crafted art;

    replacing moments
    of unspeakable tragedy
    by honouring lives lost,

    with shining beauty
    of years of special
    fond favoured memories,

    where family
    friends neighbours
    live on in beautified
    warm memories.

    Godspeed blessings
    upon your futures
    new birth growing,

    may glorious
    cherry blossoms,

    season your lives
    with pastel visions
    of beauty healing,

    in the perfume
    of flowering fragrant
    love blooming.
